Terms of Service
Last updated 18 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of this PDF Word Converter installation (“PDF Word Converter”, “we”, “us”). They govern access to and use of the PDF Word Converter website, PDF tools, and related processing (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Definitions
“You” means the individual using the Service, or the organisation on whose behalf they use it.
“Content” means PDF files and any other material you upload, and the outputs generated from them.
“Job” means a single processing request (for example compress, merge, or OCR).
2. Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract under the laws of your country. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use.
If you use PDF Word Converter for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
You must not use the Service if you are prohibited from doing so by law or by a court or regulator.
3. The Service
PDF Word Converter provides free, browser-based PDF utilities, including merge, split, compress, convert to Word or images, OCR, protect, and unlock. A full list is on the Services page. We may add, change, or withdraw tools at any time.
The Service is not a document management system, cloud drive, or public library. Files exist only to complete a Job. Outputs are temporary. You must keep your own copies of anything you need to retain.
Processing runs on this installation through a local worker. No account is required. All tools are free; there is no subscription or checkout on this site.
4. Licence to use PDF Word Converter
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your own lawful purposes.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer (except where applicable law gives you a non-waivable right), or create derivative works from the Service, nor use our name or marks in a way that suggests we endorse you.
5. Your files
You retain all rights in your Content. You grant us a limited licence to host, process, convert, and delete that Content solely to provide the Job you requested and to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
You represent that you own the Content or have all rights needed to upload and process it, and that the Content does not infringe anyone else’s rights or break the law. You are solely responsible for the Content you submit and for the use you make of outputs.
We do not claim ownership of your PDFs, do not sell them, and do not use file contents to train artificial intelligence models.
6. Acceptable use
You must use the Service in good faith and only as intended. Detailed rules are in the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary you must not attack the Service, bypass limits, process files you are not allowed to change, or use Unlock on a document you do not control.
We may refuse, pause, or delete Jobs, and may block access, if we reasonably believe these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy have been broken.
7. Password-protected PDFs
Protect and Unlock are provided so you can manage passwords on documents you control. Unlock is not a service for defeating other people’s security.
Before Unlock runs you must confirm that you own the file or are authorised to remove its password. Passwords are used only to process that Job and are not stored as a recoverable password archive. See also our Security page.
8. Availability and limits
We aim to keep the Service available but do not offer a service-level agreement. Tools may fail, conversion may be imperfect, and OCR quality depends on the source. We do not warrant that outputs are legally valid, accessible, or identical to the original layout.
We may apply technical limits, including file size, page count, OCR page count, and Jobs per hour. Those limits may change. Download results promptly. After about two hours, Jobs expire and files are deleted; we cannot restore them.
If the worker process is not running, Jobs remain queued until it is started. That is an operational requirement of this installation, not a guarantee of processing time.
9. Third-party software
The Service uses third-party libraries and engines to process PDFs. Those components remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their licences. Nothing in these Terms grants you a licence to those components except as needed to use the Service as published.
10. Intellectual property
PDF Word Converter, its name, interface, and original software are owned by us or our licensors. Except for the limited licence in section 4, no intellectual property rights are transferred to you.
If you believe Content on the Service infringes your copyright, follow the process on our Copyright page.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to fifty US dollars (USD 50).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that rule applies.
13. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the operator of this installation from claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access immediately if you breach these Terms, if we must do so for security or law, or if we shut this installation down.
Sections that by their nature should survive (including your files, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and general terms) remain in effect after termination.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of this installation is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive venue, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court to protect the Service or intellectual property.
If you are a consumer, mandatory protections of your country of residence still apply where the law does not allow them to be waived.
16. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Copyright notice, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with operating this installation.
No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not create rights for anyone other than you and us.
Language. These Terms are written in English. If translated, the English version prevails unless applicable law requires otherwise.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service.
18. Contact
Questions about these Terms: see Contact. Related documents: Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
